The little fishermen town in Katsepy hides a place of discovery rich in biodiversity which is the Antrema protected area. This site let us discover two varieties of different vegetations having their own specific fauna and flora.
Occupied by an ecosystem composed with dry forest on the dune and rain forest on the tides and the lakes; those two vegetations offer distinct tourist attractions.
First of all; we have the dry forest on the dune where 5 species of lemurs live including the Sifaka (“Propithèques couronnés” in scientific term) which are the dominating lemurs.
Besides; the mangroves or the rain forest in the tide and the lakes reserve us an unbelievable discovery for the passionate of ornithology. Indeed; this rain forest offers more than 75 species of endemic birds. So this place will be perfect for a Bird watching.
Classified as protected area in 2000; the forest station of Antrema is the first when we talk about Malagasy bio-cultural site.
